What is EPG? Using the IPTV guide.

The EPG is the on-screen TV guide that shows what is playing now and later. Here is how to read it and what to do when it is missing.

EPG stands for Electronic Programme Guide. It is the grid you open with the guide button on your remote: channels down the side, hours across the top, and the name of each programme in its slot.

With BOSS IPTV, most channels come with a 7-day guide, so you can see what is on tonight and plan the rest of the week.

  • ✓ Check the time zone in your player settings, a wrong zone shifts every programme.
  • ✓ In some players, open settings and choose “Update EPG” or “Refresh guide”.
  • ✓ If your app asks for a separate guide link, message us and we will send it.
In detail

Why guides are not identical.

A TV guide is data that comes from the broadcaster, channel by channel. Large national channels usually publish a complete guide for the week, while small or international channels sometimes publish only a few hours ahead.

That is why one channel can show a full week of programmes and the one next to it shows only “No information”. It does not mean the channel is broken, only that no guide data was published for it.

Time zones matter too. If the guide looks shifted by a few hours, your player is almost certainly set to the wrong zone. Changing it in the app settings fixes every channel at once.

Finally, remember that the guide refreshes on a schedule. After a change on the broadcaster side, it can take a few hours before your player shows the new information.
